Guarantor Service

What is it?

The proven, trustworthy way to have a greater choice of UK renting options and to make renting easier by providing a UK guarantor to everyone who doesn’t have one.

Whether you’re a student or a professional, you can use our guarantor service so you don’t have to pay rent up-front when moving into a rental property.

We guarantee the rent for the whole of your tenancy, so whether you’re 18 or 80, if you don’t have a UK guarantor then this is the service for you!

When using Housing Hand, we’ll need a co-signer to sign up with you. This is an individual over the age of 18 that will take responsibility for you meeting your obligations outlined in your tenancy agreement.

The only pay monthly guarantor service.
Payments start when you move in from £31pcm.

Common Questions

What do I need?

You’ll need some ID; If you’re a student you’ll need some proof of study and If you are a working professional you’ll need proof of income. We’ll also need proof of address and your co-signer’s details. You can find out more in our Knowledge Base.

How long does it take?

Much of this depends on you! You can get approval in principle immediately, but we need all of your documents to progress. Then we contact your accommodation provider. Typically, with everything we need in place, it’s just a few days.

Will I get accepted?

Working professionals need to show they earn 1.5x their contribution to the rent, and students need to show proof of study. We then need some other documents and a co-signer. We accept 99% of applicants who can provide those details.

What is a Co-signer?

You’ll need to find a co-signer to sign up with you.

When you use Housing Hand as your rent guarantor, we’ll need a co-signer to sign-up with you. This can be a parent, family member or friend. As long as they’re working and over the age 18 they’ll usually be suitable.

We won’t need to credit check them or you, it’s just someone else that will take responsibility for you meeting your obligations outlined in your tenancy agreement as well as a point of contact if we can’t get hold of you.
