Minimise your rental liability with Only My Share

Sharing house bills is bad enough, but what about rental liability?

What happens when someone in your house falls behind on rent or leaves the property? 

Well, if you’re in a joint and several contract (most house shares are), you could be liable for their share of the rent. 

But with Only My Share, we’ll cover any rent owed when your housemates fail to pay.

  • If you're paying £500pm in a house of 3, the total liability is £18,000! Most house shares are more.
  • In a joint and several contract, you're responsible for the whole amount if one of your housemates defaults.
  • For just £99 per year you can protect yourself.

Only be responsible for your share of the rent

We don’t believe you should be held responsible for someone else not paying rent. That’s why we created Only My Share. Our guarantee means that if your housemate doesn’t pay and your landlord pursues you for rent, we can step in and cover any rent owed by the other party.

  • You'll need to make sure you keep up with your own rental payments.
  • If you've already started your tenancy (and noticed one of your housemates is a bit flakey) your cover will start after 90 days, so it's good to get it before you move in.
  • We cover the whole liability for the contract.
