What do you need?

In student house share properties, each student will have their own guarantor or some may opt to pay advance rent. However, you can use Housing Hand as your guarantor and your housemates can still have their own guarantor/payment arrangement with the accommodation provider

Yes, absolutely! Once your bank account is set up, you can change your payment method.
The co-signer can be based anywhere in the world, they must be over 18 as well as being in receipt of an income and would typically be a parent or guardian from the student’s home country. The only persons who can’t act as a co-signer are other students or someone who will be living in the same rental property as you.

Payments are spread over 6 months for short term tenancies of 6 months or below and spread over 12 months for tenancies above 6 months and up to 12 months. The guarantor fee cost is discounted, If you choose to pay the whole fee upfront.

As payments are spread over 12 months, if you move out early, you will need to pay the balance of your fee in full. Speak to the Housing Hand team and your landlord if you need to end the tenancy early and if agreed with the landlord, Housing Hand can calculate a pro-rata fee less admin costs. 

We only have 6 month and 12 month payment lengths, but you can pay the balance of your fee at any time. 
 

To be a UK guarantor you must be:

  • A UK resident
  • A homeowner
  • In full-time employment
  • Able to provide proof of income sufficient enough to cover the costs associated with the rent in the tenancy.

Once you have submitted your application, we will reach out to your chosen provider on your behalf. We require confirmation from your accommodation provider with your tenancy agreement and agreed rental amount before we can proceed.

Every applicant will need to pay a £10 onboarding fee to us, once they have created an account and started, for us to start to process their application. This fee is non-refundable and is used to carry out ID Verification checks on each applicant and their co-signer.
   
At the same time that this fee is paid, you can either choose to set up a monthly subscription, starting on your chosen tenancy start date, or you can choose to save money and pay us upfront.

If you choose monthly, this will be set up as either 6 monthly payments or 12 monthly payments. This means that if your contract is 10 months long, you would still have subscribed to pay housing hand 12 payments.

As a company Guarantor with an insurance policy that covers every tenant, Housing Hand guarantees its safety and security. We guarantee that your rent will be paid for the whole period of your tenancy agreement should you default on the payment, as well as the provision to cover damages above the deposit value.

If your Accommodation Provider is not on our list of partners, we will contact them on your behalf. Whilst we cannot guarantee that every accommodation provider in the UK will work with us, we are confident that we will be able to find you alternative accommodation with one of our partners if they don’t.

In the unlikely event that the accommodation provider does not accept Housing Hand as your UK Rental Guarantor; we provide you with a refund.
